HELP, I Want One!

Gold Plated Conn New Wonder

This is a very cool early vintage C.G. Conn New Wonder tenor saxophone in original gold plate, serial number 55830. It is a great show case of the New Wonder vintage tenor. The New Wonder features key work from low Bb to high F. There is also a front F key and trill G#. This particular sax has its original gold plate finish and also features beautiful floral engraving around the bell area. The body is in very good condition with some modest history of dent and solder work but not to bad for an instrument almost a hundred years old. All of the original keys, rods and posts are with the horn and in good shape. The original key guards are also in great condition. The bow cap is in nice original condition. There are a few smallish dings around the bow area currently but nothing serious.

This sax comes with an older Conn neck and a newer replacement neck. The newer neck is easier to play with the horn overall but the older neck does still play. It has been repaired at some point with a couple of brass patches.

This saxophone was being played and maintained nicely by the previous owner. It looks like it was serviced in the last few years and set up on some basic leather pads. It is not in perfect playing condition and ultimately would benefit from some general service work. We are selling it in as is condition in order to keep the cost down. As it sits it is a very fun to play and extremely colorful free blowing instrument. The early Conn tenors were paramount in setting the tone for the jazz saxophone sound of the 1920's.

Horn ships in as is condition in a wood box hard case.
