Product ID: M6457SelmerClarinet
This is a vintage World War II era Selmer Paris Model 55 Bb clarinet, serial number M6457. The serial number dates this instrument to 1945. It is in current need of a cleaning and repad, but will make a fine instrument for doublers and hobbyists with just a little care.
This is a true grenadilla clarinet, with a dense wood body. There are some scratches to the body here and there as to be expected for its age, but I see no cracks or crack repairs anywhere. The top and bottom joint are an original pair with matching serial numbers, and the bell is original too. The barrel has been replaced with a Buffet Crampon Paris model. It is a shorter barrel, to match the shorter ones that would have originally accompanied a Selmer Paris model from this era, measuring 61mm.
This professional model clarinet has been sitting for some time, and is in current need of a cleaning/polishing, and repad. Should be a fairly straight forward job though, as all mechanisms are fluid and nothing is frozen or binding. If you have a repair bench at home and looking to bring a lovely old clarinet back to life, this is a great deal.
