Vintage The Martin Committee III Alto Sax in Original Lacquer, Serial # 171892
Martin Committee III
This is a vintage original lacquer The Martin Committee III alto saxophone, serial number 171892. These Martin altos are tremendous free blowing players. In comparison to Buescher and Conn they tend to have a slightly brighter focused quality about them. The more focused and brilliant sound on these instruments make allow for versatility with use in straight ahead jazz and commercial music settings.
Physically this is a very crisp and prime example of an original lacquer Martin. It shows off a rich original lacquer finish with a some amount of cosmetic character for a vintage alto. Its body tube, bow, bow cap and original neck are all in nice condition. The neck has never been pulled down. There are a few smaller dings around the bottom of the bow as well as a ding above the adjustable thumb rest. The bow cap is in excellent condition and was never pushed in. Its bell flare is also in nice shape and was never damaged in the past. This saxophone does have all of the original key pearls as well as the original rollers.
This particular Martin came into our shop with all of its original leather pads. Ultimately if you are going to be doing serious playing on it the sax will need to be overhauled first. Because it is all original we are currently offering it in as is condition at a lower price. If you would like our shop to do the overhaul please make the add on selection with the drop down menu.
The Saxquest pro overhaul would include all new leather pads, resonators, corks, felts and a precise key regulation. We would also remove the small dings from the body. Once complete the saxophone would be in perfect playing condition. Item ships with original Martin wood hard case.
