1925 Vintage Selmer Paris
This is vintage Selmer Paris Modele 22 alto saxophone, serial #3429. These Modele 22's are a very early saxophone made by Selmer Paris. This one in particular was made in 1925 and features key work from low Bb to high F. It also features a very interesting construction regarding the side Bb key, which opens a key in the left hand stack instead of a key on the side of the body tube. The body of sax is very clean with a well kept look. It is not the original finish but that being said the current lacquer is beautiful and does not show any history of major repair since being refinished.
If you have not ever played a Modele 22 this particular example is going to blow you away. It is a very responsive alto with a clear warm quality. Despite the saxophone being manufactured in 1925 the sonic spread and intonation on the sax is nicely balanced. The saxophone is currently playing decently on an older overhual of leather pads and metal domed resonators. We are going to go through the horn and make some standard adjustments to make sure it is sealing up before shipping. Due to the age of the pads the sax will ultimately need to be overhauled in the near future if you were going to be putting a lot of serious playing on it. But because the horn is mostly a sought after collectors item we are selling it playing on its current set of pads for a lower price point.
This is easily one of the better playing examples of a Modele 22 we have had in our shop in quite some time. If you are wanting to check out what an original Selmer would have played like this is a perfect opportunity. This alto ships out with a very nice after market wood hard case and a vintage Naujoks McLaughlin hard rubber mouthpiece.
