This is a later vintage Mark VI alto saxophone in gold lacquer, serial number 196405. While it is certainly not the prettiest horn in the shop it is an ultra sweet player. It has a great free blowing response and crystal clear projection. This is a beautifully balanced player across all registers which allows for great control and flexibility.
The pictures of this sax tell its physical story the best. It has been re-lacquered and has seen a lot of serious playing since then. That being said the body tube is in solid shape as is the bow, bow cap and bell. This saxophone is with the original neck. The neck is in similar cosmetic condition as the rest of the horn but it has never been pulled down.
This sax was recently overhauled in our shop and is now in perfect playing condition and ready for a new home. The overhaul included a total dissemble, cleaning, precise key fitting and a very thorough set up with a new set of Valentino leather pads, nylon resonators as well as new corks and felts. The alto now plays with a super smooth response to air flow and a medium dark sonic character. This is a terrific late vintage Mark VI and is a nice choice if you are looking for something with a lot of versatility. The key action on the alto is ultra fluid under the fingers allowing for a great playing experience.
This alto ships out in perfect playing condition with a fresh Saxquest overhaul and the original wood hard case. The interior and exterior of the case are still in decent condition but the pulls from the zippers are missing. The zipper heads are still functioning. If you are looking to get a killer playing Mark VI alto this one can be picked up at a great price!
