Vintage Selmer Paris Air Flow Table C Hard Rubber Mouthpiece for Tenor Sax, Serial #43153
Selmer Table C
This is a 1940' vintage “Air Flow” Table C hard rubber mouthpiece for tenor saxophone by Selmer Paris.
It features a massive, deep chamber that's been rounded out along the walls with no baffle to speak of. The exterior of this piece is in great shape with original paint still in the grooves of the scroll engraving, there are light scratches on the beak from teeth and also light scratches from the ligature. There has been oxidation on this piece. This model preceded the famous Soloist models, and features a similar scroll pattern on its short shank.
The tip opening on this mouthpiece is extremely small by today's standards, measuring .059”. If you wanted the piece for serious playing it could be a candidate for refacing. But because of its history and age it might serve nicely as an example of an air flow in a mouthpiece collection.
