This is a vintage Holton Rudy Wiedoeft model alto saxophone in original silver finish, serial number 39317. These saxophones were manufactured int the late 1920's and are rather hard to come by. They feature a high trill Eb key and a trill G# key. It also has an extra resonance key on the bow as well as a back door Eb key on the back of the body tube.
The pictures very accurately represent this saxophone. It shows a history of play time but is in remarkable condition for an instrument of its vintage. There is no history of serious repair or re-solders on this saxophone. Its body tube, bow, bow cap and bell are all in nice condition. The outer bell flare does show a little bit of wear. The original neck is with this saxophone, it has never been pulled down.
This saxophone is currently playing decently through all the leaks on a pretty old set of pads. If you wanted to do serious playing it would need to first be completely overhauled. That being said this is an extremely fun horn to play. It is super responsive and has a nice and clear brilliant sonic character.
The rare factor of this instrument makes it an ideal piece for a serious collector. In order to keep the price lower we are selling this one in as is condition. Ships with wood hard case.
