See the fine gold plated Buescher straight alto sax we recently posted, but the rarity of it keeping it out of your budget? How about a (relatively) more reasonably priced silver edition? This is an original silver plated Buescher straight alto, serial number 207587. If you've been by the Saxquest museum, you've seen this horn on display for the last several years. We've decided to sell it to make room for a new display, and it's your opportunity to pick up a super rare collector's horn of museum quality.
The silver plating has tarnished from being outside of its case, but is still in beautiful shape and just needs to be polished. As “proof of concept,” I did a quick polish on the bell by hand, and you can see how the original silver still pops. If you'd like us to do the silver clean up (as well as a fresh adjustment), just add that option above during checkout.
This alto is in tremendous shape, with only very minor finish wear and no past damage or repairs. The straight bell alto is in Eb like your standard alto, but its sound, going straight into the ground, definitely comes at your ears differently. This sax was completely repadded when it went to our museum, and has seen little playing time since the work. It is still playing great. Again, if you'd like us to clean it up and readjust all pads/material before shipping, that option is available above. Unfortunately the original case is lost. Finding a case to hold a straight alto is impossible, so the sax is currently housed in a soft bari sax gig bag, and will be completed bubble wrapped and boxed to insure safe arrival.
We've only ever seen a couple of these vintage straight altos here at Saxquest. Pick this one up quick, it's unlikely you'll see another anytime soon!
