Vintage Buescher 400 Top Hat and Cane Alto Saxophone, Serial #317045

This is a vintage Top Hat and Cane alto saxophone, serial number 317045. The 400 Top Hat and Cane is arguably one of the most free blowing saxophones ever manufactured. This one has been re-lacquered in the past but is in solid physical condition and is a great option for someone looking to save some money. The current lacquer finish is in great shape showing a modest amount of play wear. Mostly light surface scratches but nothing too serious. There is no history of major repair to the body since the saxophone had the finish redone. The saxophone includes the original neck with under-slung octave key. It is in great condition.  All of the original keys and guards are intact on this sax as well as all of the original gold plated springs, amber rollers and Buescher snap resonators. 

 

The alto came into our shop playing very nicely on its current set of leather pads. The pads are in good shape and have quite a bit of life in them. While it doesn't have our full pro setup, we will do a bench check and play test on it to make sure all of the key materials are adequate as well as sealing up any leaks before shipping.

 

These old Bueschers are an amazing choice for the modern player looking for power and projection. They are a great choice for funk, soul, contemporary and jazz settings. Pick this one up at a great price!
