Product ID: 48709SelmerCMelody
This is an original silver plated Buescher-produced Selmer New York model C-Melody saxophone, serial number 48709. This sax is pretty much all original and as such needs to be restored if you are going to plan on playing it, but for the collector out there, you might just want to shine it up and display it.
The matte silver plating is tarnished, but shows little finish wear and is overall in excellent condition. Just about all of the keywork is intact and moves freely, with nothing frozen. There is one broken and missing piece, coming up from the octave key to engage the neck. This should be an easy piece to fabricate, as all the moving mechanisms are intact. The original neck is included, it has been slightly pulled down in the past. The sax itself is missing one keyguard as seen in the photos, otherwise shows little past damage and no previous repairs.
Though the C Melody saxophone was extremely popular in the teens and 20's, it fell by the wayside in the 30's and you don't see them much anymore. This is a cool opportunity to pick up a piece of saxophone history on the cheap. Ships in its original hard case, which is in rough shape.
