This is an exquisite 1976 vintage Selmer Mark VII alto sax, serial number 257147. This original lacquer Selmer Paris has recently been completely overhauled in the Saxquest repair shop and comes in perfect adjustment with all new pads and material. As a bonus, it has an extra Mark VII neck in addition to its original neck, giving the player a second option.
The original lacquer on this alto shows nominal wear from normal use, and is still overall in very good shape. It features American style floral engraving, which is a nice find with so many Mark VII's out there with no engraving. There are no dents or dings in the horn anywhere, and just one minor resolder, on one foot of the low C keyguard. No previous repairs or pulldowns to either neck. The horn feels great with a crisp, fluid key action. It feels like a new horn!
Saxquest's George Bunk overhauled this alto with premium firm leather pads and oversized, slightly domed metal resonators. We with with metal resos to give the sax a freer, more open response, and it really works! This horn screams, with a lively resonance, while retaining a lot of color in its timbre. One of the two necks seems to be a bit warmer in sound, so you have options. This is a dynamic and fun alto for players looking for that classic Selmer sound.
