Vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI Low Bb baritone saxophone, serial number 94832. If you are looking for a big free blowing VI bari this one is perfect. It has seen quite a bit of play time over the years but is in solid physical condition and was nicely maintained. At this point the majority of the original lacquer is off of the sax. But it shows no history of being re-lacquered. The body condition is excellent and shows off crisp engraving. Its lack of lacquer is most likely an attributing factor to why the horn is so free blowing. The body tube, bow, bell and upper J/U tube areas are in very nice condition. There is some history of light repair on the sax very typical of any good vintage bari. A few of the lower key guard feet have been re-soldered. There is also a past repair of the low F# key pearl mounting. (See picture 25)
The sax does include the original neck. Its neck is in good shape. It was very slightly pulled down in the past but will be brought back to its true position in our shop. This saxophone is currently in the Saxquest shop awaiting a professional set-up on its current set of leather pads and brown plastic resonators. The pads are in nice shape and have plenty of life left in them. Our set-up will also include cleaning up all of the small dings and the previous repair on the F# key. Once complete the sax will be in perfect condition with all new corks and felts.
These low Bb are an ideal choice for the modern Jazz bari player involved in a variety of musical settings. The low Bb models are physically lighter and brighter players then the low A models. This one is a particular responsive and free blowing instrument. Ships in perfect playing condition with protec case.
