F Loree Paris Oboe – Side F and Low Bb, Serial Number AX81
Low Price - As is Condition Needing Re-Pad
This is a F Loree Paris wood oboe from the late 1950's, serial number AX81. In its day it was considered to be a professional model. It has the left F key which is original to the instrument, low Bb key and split-E. It would be considered an intermediate oboe by today's standards as it does not have the low Bb resonance key or the 3rd octave key (although many top professional instruments today also leave this key off as the top octave vent for acoustical reasons; the extra tone hole in the top joint changes the acoustics of the instrument)
This oboe currently needs a restoration, and with our repair shop backed up for months, we've decided to let this one go “as is” at a low price, to pass along some savings. This instrument came to us on older pads, and is ready for a re-pad. The keywork is in good shape with only minor finish wear, and all mechanisms move freely. The body of the instrument is decent. There is one previous crack repair in the upper joint that I can see, and no cracks in the bottom joint or bell. If you have a preferred tech you've been going to for awhile, this looks to be a great find. Fully restored, it should be a fine player and the total package can be had for far less than what these normally sell for. Does ship in a hard case.
