This is a vintage C.G. Conn Transitional "Chu Berry" Art Deco alto saxophone in original silver plate with the serial number #246010. While it's not the prettiest, it is is definitely a player's horn because of its resilient sonic character. In playing this saxophons you experience a free blowing resonant tone in all registers. The Conn altos from this period featured a trill G#, backdoor Eb key and micro tuner neck with under-slung octave key.
The pictures of this horn tell its story the best. It is not the prettiest and shows some history of past repair and solder work. Aside from the cosmetic wear the horn is physically in solid condition with the original key work and neck. The original gold wash around the bell flare is also still intact.
As it sits this saxophone is playing decently through some leaks on an older pad job. If you are going to be putting a lot of time on this saxophone it will ultimately need to be overhauled first. In order to keep the cost of this item at a premium we are selling it in as is condition. If you would like to add a re-pad to the horn and have the time to wait please make the selection on the drop down menu on our website. A Saxquest overhaul would include all new pads, resonators, corks, felts and a through key regulation. Please take note the current turn around time is currently 8-10 weeks.
