A Modest Tip Opening... Vibrant and Bright!
This is a late vintage Arnold Brilhart Level Air 4* metal mouthpiece for tenor saxophone, tip opening 0.082 inch/2.08 mm, serial number 110474. The Level Air model was in production with Brilhart in the 1960s and 1970s, this one has a serial number that gives its manufacture date of November 4, 1974. These pieces play bright and compact because of their design, so any players needing cutting power would enjoy it.

Physically, this piece has marks from the ligature all across the body, and the beak has some very deep divots. The table, side rails, and rail tip are all in great condition with no divots or dings. The rails are a bit uneven with their facing length/curve, but the piece plays well.

Sonically, a player will have a tasteful blend of brightness with a solid core with a free blowing feel. The flat side walls and raised step baffle in combination redirect your air flow efficiently, towards the throat, to aid in projection. The positioning of the bite plate gives an advantageous and relaxing position for your jaw to form the embouchure.

This piece ships with a leather one-screw ligature with no mouthpiece cap.
