This is a very pretty Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor saxophone, serial number 115710. If you are looking for a rich and colorful voice you are about to fall in love. The Mark VI has an ultra smooth response to air flow and a beautiful balanced sound across all registers. Its outstanding balance allows for a lot of sonic flexibility and an exceptional amount of control. This particular tenor leans on the darker side regarding color but when compared to the earlier five digit Mark VI's it is just a little bit more brilliant. The key action on this tenor feels fantastic under the fingers.
This Mark VI is in outstanding physical condition and shows no history of major repair. Its body is in beautiful condition showing off possibly the best factory re-lacquer job we have seen in quite some time. The finish is the proper factory air bake lacquer and has a gorgeous honey hue. Its engraving is pristine showing off a great clear look and a crisp feel. The physical body of the tenor is in premium condition. There is no trace of any re-solders on the sax. The body tube, bow, bow cap, bell and bell flare all look terrific. This saxophone also has the original neck with matching serial number stamp. The neck is in amazing condition and has never been pulled down.
This Mark VI was recently re-padded in another pro shop. They used a nice set of leather pads and seamless domed metal resonators. It is sealing up great and feels effortless under your fingers. Fantastic vintage VI just outside of the fabled “5 digit” realm.
