This is a cool vintage Leblanc wood bass clarinet, serial number 11172. I believe it dates to the 1970's based on the logo stamping. This instrument is in excellent condition and is a fantastic instrument for advancing players looking for their first wood bass clarinet, or saxophone doublers wanting an easy playing bass for those pit gigs.
The previous owner definitely took great care of this instrument. I see no evidence of cracks or previous crack repairs such as pins. There is a little glue in one spot in the upper joint, but I think it was just filling in a deep wood grain, as again no evidence of a repair there. The keywork is all solid and fluid, with only minor finish wear on the touch points. This instrument comes complete with original bell and neck, with floor peg, and in its original hard case.
Pads are all still in good shape, and have plenty of life ahead of them. We will go through and make sure the instrument is sealing before it ships. During playtesting, I've found this instrument to be very free blowing and responsive, with a colorful bottom end and pure, focused tone in the top. A great bargain at this price.
