This is a very cool vintage SML Gold Medal tenor sax in original lacquer, serial number 18228. The SML Gold Medal is built with rolled tone holes and also features a moveable G# lever. This lever allows you to switch between having an articulated and non articulated G# key. The SML also has all of the original gold plated springs. These SML tenors are most famous for their lush free blowing sonic character. The sound is very indicative of the French core sound akin to Selmer and Dolnet.
This tenor has been seen some play time in its life but is in solid physical condition and is ready for a new owner and more life. It has no history of re-solders but has seen some light dent work in the past. Right now there are a few smaller size dings which we are currently in the process of taking out. The bow cap does have a pushed in area. (see picture 16)
The original neck is with the saxophone and is in very good condition. Both the body of the neck and the neck brace are in perfect condition and have never been pulled down or damaged. This saxophone also ships with the original wood box case. Saxquest is currently in the process of setting the saxophone up in our shop and will soon be playing great. It was recently re-padded in another shop with leather pads and brown plastic resonators. The pads are in good shape and have plenty of life in them. Don't miss out on a exquisite vintage SML.
