Vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI in Raw Brass, Serial #85348
Sweet Five Digit Mark VI Tenor
This is a five digit vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor sax, serial number 85348. It is a great early vintage Mark VI both regarding physical condition and playability. The early 60's vintage Mark VI's are known for being very powerful. This particular sax is certainly no exception and holds its own in the category of projection. From top to bottom the sonic balance of the instrument stays extremely consistent. The great consistency on this tenor make it a fantastic player in any musical situation. Regarding color this tenor is a little on the brighter side which makes it great if you are looking for a VI to use in contemporary settings.
At some point in time the lacquer was removed from this saxophone. It is now showing a super clean looking lacquered finish. The bow, bell, bell flare and bow cap are all in great physical condition. There has never been any major dent work on the sax. It does show a few hard to see re-solders on some of the feet of the lower key guards. The work was done and is extremely hard to spot. This saxophone also includes the original neck with matching serial number. The neck is in good shape, it was previously pulled down a little bit but has been brought back up to its true position.
This tenor is currently in the Saxquest shop awaiting a professional set-up. The Saxquest set-up will include replacing all of the cork and felt materials and putting the sax into perfect regulation. The sax is being set-up on its current leather pads and brown plastic resonators. These pads are in great shape and have a ton of life in them.
Don't miss out on this great Mark VI in raw brass.
