Vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI Alto Sax, Serial #106149 Pretty Early Six Digit
Early Six Digiy Mark VI – Includes Saxquest Pro Re-Pad
This is a very pretty vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI alto sax, serial number 106149. The alto has a fat core sound akin to the earlier five digit models while showing off a slightly brighter color in the way it plays. As you would expect the key work feels great under the fingers allowing for fluid movement from top to bottom. If you are looking to get into a versatile playing VI that will function in a big band as well as contemporary situations this particular alto is going to be fantastic.
The alto is one of the best examples of a factory re-lacquer we have seen. In fact the finish looks so good it almost had us fooled. The lacquer is the perfect dark honey shade with the Selmer factory air bake lacquer. Its American floral engraving is absolutely exquisite. The physical body of the alto is about as clean as it gets. Its shows a very modest amount of play wear and has never had any major repairs, it shows no re-solders. This saxophone is also with the original Mark VI neck. The neck is in great shape and has the matching serial number stamp, it has never been pulled down.
This alto came into our shop on some old pads so we are currently in the process of getting the sax ready for a complete pad job. The Saxquest professional pad job will feature all new premium Valentino pads, brown plastic resonators, new corks, felts and a precise key regulation. This saxophone will soon be in perfect playing condition. We will also put a video of the horn up before it goes into the shop showing how it plays on its current pads. Once the work is done we will put a new set of pictures and a new video.
