This is a lovely Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor sax in original lacquer, serial number 87578. The serial number on this sax places it in the sweet spot for the five digit vintage Mark VI tenors. We have had many tenors in our shop from this vintage over the years and they are always knock out players. This one is certainly no exception.
For starters the body is about as clean as you are going to find these days. It shows a very light amount of play wear in the usual areas but has absolutely no history of dent or solder work. The body tube, bow, bow cap and bell are all in pristine original condition. Its original neck with matching serial number stamp is also with the saxophone and in very good condition. It has never been pulled down.
The Mark VI is extremely impressive regarding the way it feels and how it plays with a highly authoritative sonic character. It take the air in super quick and has immediate response. The sound on this saxophone is robust and should be described as luscious. From end to end the sax has a The low end is thick and this character stays consistent all the way up to the altissimo register.
Saxophone features a nice set of theater pads with an oversized flat metal resonators. Saxquest will go through the tenor and optimize the key heights and regulation.
