This is a straight forward player's “The Martin Tenor” sax, serial number 160102. This tenor might not be the prettiest horn around, but it's a great player and is perfect for the gigging professional that worries about taking a pretty sax to a bar gig.
This tenor shows a fair amount of lacquer wear, but it is original and has never been refinished. It also has its original neck, with matching serial number. It came to us in older pads, and is currently in our repair shop in line for a full custom overhaul, where we will replace all of the pads and material, as well as remove a couple dings from the bottom bow. It will all be smoothed out and ready to go for its next owner, and backed by our one year mechanical warranty.
If you haven't played a good Martin from this vintage, especially one that has been set up right and is in perfect playing shape, you might not know what you are missing. These are versatile horns for just about any job you want to play. This tenor has a strong, warm tone, with a slight spread that fills up a room easily, and enough edge to allow you to be heard in a loud environment. A whole lot of tenor for the price!
