Vintage Original Lacquer Selmer Paris Mark VI Soprano Sax, Serial #211397
Mark VI Soprano
This is vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI soprano saxophone, serial number 211397.
This is a great free blowing Mark VI soprano. It takes the air in super fast and has an ultra resonant sonic character about the way it plays. The core sound of the instrument is medium warm and it can be played with quite a bit of brilliance when desired. Its key action is quite comfortable under the fingers allowing for fluid motion across the entire instrument.
Not the prettiest sax we have in the shop at the moment but it has no history of serious repair. Much of the original lacquer on the sax has worn off but this is probably a contributing factor the the awesome free blowing sound and response the soprano has. The body tube and upper neck venture are both in nice shape and show no history of serious repair. At some point the previous owner had a neck strap ring added to this instrument.
The soprano is currently in the Saxquest shop being set-up and ships out in perfect playing condition. Saxquest's pro set-up includes a dissemble and cleaning of the sax as well as a replacement of needed pads and all cork and felt materials. If you are looking to get into a Mark VI soprano and a nice price this 211 thousand is a great way to go.
