Product ID: 84430ReynoldsTenor
This is a vintage Martin-manufactured Reynolds Medalist tenor saxophone, serial number 84430. This original lacquer saxophone is being offered “as is” at a low price. The next owner will need to pad it up, but once that work is completed, you'll have a fantastic American made sax ready for a new life.
While this tenor shows a fair amount of lacquer wear, the lacquer is original and has never been refinished. The sax has the Martin beveled tone holes and RMC shield on the bell. The body tube is straight showing no major past damage or repairs. There are a smattering of minor dings and dimples in the bottom bow, and the sax will need two minor resolers there where feet of the low Eb keyguard have come separated. The neck has a different serial number, # 84482, but since it is so close to the number on the body, I have to believe it was switched at the factory and not later on. The neck has been slightly pulled down.
As the pads are old and well past prime, the sax will need a repad before you can play it. The job should be pretty straight forward as all of the keywork is free and the springs appear to be in good shape. With pads and the minor dent work mentioned above, you'll have a top notch vintage pro tenor, great for weekend warriors or advancing students.
