This is an awesome vintage C.G. Conn New Wonder model tenor saxophone, serial number 106790. This tenor dates back to 1923, and is one of the earlier first series New Wonder horns. It looks incredible in original gold plate, and is ready to go through our shop for a full restoration.
The original gold plating on this tenor is in awesome shape, showing just minor finish wear in a few spots where you can see the silver plating underneath peaking through. It has a truly beautiful floral engraving pattern on the bell. The sax is in amazing physical condition, with no dents or dings, no past repairs, including no resolders. The rolled tone holes have never been filed on, and the original neck has never been pulled down or damaged. As solid physically as they get from top to bottom.
This tenor is currently over in our repair shop in line for a complete overhaul, but with the shop backed up for months, we've decided to offer the option for it as-is. We would disassemble the horn, clean and polish it to shine like new, and replace all of the pads and material. We'd also adjust the spring tensions and key heights throughout, putting it in perfect adjustment. We'll have it playing better than the day it left the factory in 1923.
This horns are tremendous for those players looking for the classic American horn sound. Whether you take it as-is and have your tech do the work, or have our team restore it, you'll love this tenor and it can be the go-to horn for a long time.
