HELP, I Want One!

Includes Saxquest Overhaul
This is a very pretty Conn Transitional“Naked Lady” baritone saxophone, serial number 259006. The baritone was just freshly overhauled in the Saxquest shop and is now one incredible playing instrument. It now features all new leather Valentino pads, seamless metal resonators, new corks, felts and a precise key regulation. These vintage baritones were the back bone of the bari sax jazz sound from the late 30's through the Be-Bop and Cool eras. This one was manufactured in late 1933 and was probably one of the very last Chu/Transitional models made before the model number change over to 12M in 1934.
The Conn shows off all of the standard Chu Berry features. Rolled tone holes, finger nail file G# key and the Naked Lady engraving that only shows up on these late vintage models. This particular bari also features all of the original pearl rollers. The body of this instrument shows some signs of past repair but is in fantastic shape for its vintage. All of the rolled tone holes are in great shape. The bottom bow, bow cap and bell flare are also in outstanding original condition. The horn has some history of solder and dent repair around the bell area and upper U tube area of the body tube. The work was done professionally in the Saxquest shop and the saxophone is now back it perfect performance condition. This baritone comes with the original neck. The neck is in great shape and has never been pulled down in the past. This saxophone has been re-finished in the past. The work was done extremely well a very long time ago. Its current finish showcases the proper dark honey colored lacquered which is nicely complemented by the crisp and original Naked Lady engraving. This is easily one of the nicest factory jobs we have seen in some time.
This bari is one very sweet playing instrument. It plays with a quick response to air flow and a rich free blowing sound. In regards to sonic color it has a warm center but could be considered to be a hair on the brighter side. It plays with a character very reminiscent of the classic recordings of Art Pepper and Gerry Mulligan. If you are looking for a free blowing player with plenty of personality you will not want to miss out on this “Naked Lady” baritone. This saxophone ships out from our shop in perfect playing condition and even has the original Conn case.
