This is a monstrous playing C.G. Conn 10M “Naked Lady” tenor sax from 1940, serial number 290000. The 10M is a fantastic choice for the modern working tenor player who needs a solid horn for a great price. This one has a ultra resonant robust sound character. It is powerful and projection is absolutely exceptional on this instrument. Because of the big sound these saxophones have they work very well in rock and R&B but are additionally great for straight ahead jazz.
The Conn 10M features rolled tone holes, trill G# key and the classic Naked Lady engraving on the bell. This sax was re-lacquered a very long time ago. It was done well and shows very clear engraving. A previous owner also had the back door Eb key removed and patched. The physical body of this horn is in very good condition and shows no history of major past repair. This saxophone does come with the original neck in great shape.
Saxquest is currently in the process of setting this saxophone up on its leather pads and brown plastic resonators. The set-up will include replacing some of the pads in the upper stack as well as all of the cork and felt materials and a precise key regulation.
