Vintage Buescher True Tone C-Melody Sax in Original Gold Plate, Serial # 143681
Gold Plate C - Melody
This is a very cool vintage Buescher True Tone C-Melody sax in gold plate, serial number 143681. The C-Melody comes from the height of the American saxophone craze during the 1920's. This one in particular was made in 1923. It features a trill G#, straight tone holes and the original Buescher neck. All of the keys, key guards and adjustment arms are also with the sax. In perfect playing condition these sax's are a blast to play and are extremely responsive and lyrical instruments. This one came to us with out pads and will need an overhaul before it will be ready for playing.
The pictures tell the story of this C-Melody the best. Its body is physically in very good condition but it will need a complete overhaul before it can be played. The body shows no signs of serious past dent or solder work. It does still have some of the original snap in resonator posts but is missing all but two of the snap resonators. ( B and Bb remain) The resonator posts on the smaller key cups above middle G have been taken out by a previous repair tech. The C-melody is a great candidate for fixing up if you know a good local tech or are looking for a project horn. Its gold plate finish also makes it an especially nice item.
If you are looking to grab a piece of history from the Jazz age or are looking for a project horn this gold plated Buescher is a fantastic choice, especially when it can be had at a super low price.
