The Vandoren V12 has been a success in the clarinet world for 25 years, and Vandoren has finally brought it to the saxophones. A great classical reed, it plays with a precise attack, controlled high tones, and a warm velvety sound. The reed has a thicker heel and is cut from a longer pallet, and also has a slightly thicker tip than the traditional "blue box". The longer pallet means more of the reed is vibrating, producing a deeper richer tone. The thicker tip also helps the reed last longer.
