This is a 50's vintage Selmer Paris Soloist mouthpiece for the alto sax. This is one of the earlier “short shank” mouthpieces, featuring a horseshoe chamber. It is stamped a C* with tip measuring .065” (all original), and has a nice rollover baffle just behind the tip. This piece shows some light oxidation for its age, and minor cosmetic playing wear around the beak, but really is in tremendous shape compared to a lot of the old Soloists out there. There are no teeth indentations in the beak, no cracks or nicks anywhere. It plays with a warm colorful tone but has a bit of an edge to it too.
