This is a pristine, near mint condition Buffet-Crampon Paris S1 alto sax, serial number 29195A. With the A in the serial number, this designates this alto was manufactured for the American market, with A=440 (as opposed to A=442 for Europe). This alto has been sparingly played and extremely well cared for, keeping it in the shape you see today.
As you can see in the photos, it is about as nice as you will ever find. The original lacquer is a solid 98-99% intact, only minor surface scratching here and there with no major lacquer wear to be found. There are no also no dents or previous damages/repairs. The original neck has never been pulled down or hurt. This model features some truly unique keywork, including extra wrap-around levers on the alternate and high F# keys in the bottom, an innovate swivel thumbrest, unique rocking B/Bb table keys, and sculpted low Eb/C keys. It all makes for an extremely comfortable saxophone under your fingers.
This sax just received a fresh re-pad by George Bunk and is now in perfect playing condition. It now has all new pads, corks, felts and metal resonators. The alto takes your air well, and you can push it hard without feeling like you are hitting a wall. Intonation is remarkable and on par with the finest saxes being made today. This alto has a warm tone, but isn't really overly dark, just very full and strong. A lot of fun to play, and versatile enough for any gig from jazz to classical.
