HELP, I Want One!

Selmer Balanced Action
This is a super sweet vintage Selmer Paris Balanced Action tenor from the late 1930's, serial number 24754. The Balanced Action tenor plays with a warm but still very sweet sound quality. At this point most of the lacquer is off of the saxophone.  The raw brass finish allows it to breath very freely giving a quick free blowing response, extremely positive and organic.  Its free blowing response and sonic spread is extremely rich and not overly dark, in fact it even has a element of brilliance in the way it sings out. The fantastic natural sonic character of the horn allows it to be very flexible making it suitable for a wide variety of musical settings. Projection and volume on the horn are also exceptional.

Horns like this are what you call a true players instrument.  It is not all that pretty but it has plenty of class and plays up a storm. The floral engraving has been re-cut at some point in the past. The engraving now has a sharp and well defined look. The sailboat centerpiece on the bell is especially distinguished looking. Its body is in solid physical condition but it has seen plenty of performances. There is history of some repair and solder work to this instrument. A previous owner of the sax also had brass plate added under the thumb rest and the body to bell brace has been repaired. The saxophone includes the original Balanced Action neck.

The Balanced Action is currently in the Saxquest shop being professionally set up and comes in perfect playing condition. It was at some point worked on by Lyons who added the black key risers. If these are not desired they can be easily removed. This sax was most recently re-padded in a pro shop. It now features all new pads with flat metal gold plated resonators. The last tech who worked on it also added an additional piece to the octave key. This is a highly positive ergonomic feel, but it can be removed if it is undesirable.

Do not be fooled by looks.  This saxophone will make a perfect player for anyone in search of a classic Selmer sound. Additionally the horn has a powerful sound and is quite flexible regarding sonic versatility.
