This is a very clean, nice original lacquer Martin Handcraft Committee tenor sax, serial number 126582. Often known as the Martin “Skyline” model because of the engraving on the bell, This is a great Martin tenor dating to around 1937. It comes completely repadded and in fine shape.
This vintage Martin is in great original lacquer, with typical wear shown around the bell and on the back side of the body tube. It had a couple very minor dings in the tube when we received it, but those are coming out in our repair shop. We will also go through it and optimize the key heights and spring tensions from top to bottom. The sax shows no past resolders or work, and the original neck, with matching serial number, has never been pulled down.
This sax was just recently repadded, using premium Valentino pads and brown plastic resonators. It is playing great, with a full, warm sound and easy response. I wouldn't call it an overly dark sounding horn, but it is definitely warm and colorful. It really takes your air well too. A good all-around horn for the pro player on a budget.
