This is the latest offering from P Mauriat, the Master 97 alto saxophone. This sax features a completely redesigned body tube, as well as minor improvements in keywork.
Physically it has a more traditional look that many other P Mauriats out there. It has a gold lacquered body with traditional white mother-of-pearl key touches. There are some nice additions “under the hood” though. The octave pips are sterling silver, and the sax features an improved front F that sits very comfortably just under your hands, as well as an improved octave key thumb rest and key design. Extensive hand engraving wrapping all around the bell and down on to the bottom bow completes the look.
The new tube design is noticeable as soon as you put a mouthpiece on this sax. It really plays well, feeling bigger and more resonant throughout the range of the horn. It retains a warm core sound, with a great amount of projection and edge. P Mauriat is very excited about this new horn, and it is easy to see why.
Every P. Mauriat sax we sell does come with our full set up, which includes a complete regulation and adjustment. We thoroughly play-test every instrument after the set up, to insure they are playing at the height of their capabilities. The sax does come with our full one year warranty.
