This is a tremendous example of an early Selmer Paris Super Action 80 tenor sax, serial number 334341. The serial number dates this sax to 1982, but you'd never guess it was approaching 35 years old based on its condition. It looks incredible and is a fantastic player too.
The original lacquer on this tenor is in well in the 95%+ range. It has minor scratching and cosmetic wear, and that's all. There are no past dents or dent repair that I can see, and the original neck has never been pulled down. There is just one resoldered joint, on the lower foot of the low Eb keyguard. Pads are all newer, fitted with flat metal resonators, and the sax will get a final check up in the Saxquest shop before it ships. We will make sure pads are sealing perfect and all key heights and spring tensions are just right.
I've always had a soft spot for the Series I Selmers, which are often overlooked for the Mark VI and Series II. These are great horns, and this one in particular is a fine player. It has a fast, easy response, and takes your air well. Tonally, it has a darker color sound, yet still is very free blowing. It has a subtle focus which acts as a foundation for you to push the horn hard without it giving out on you. A fantastic option for the player wanting a Selmer Paris tenor at a great price.
