This is a beautiful 1964 vintage Selmer Mark VI tenor sax, serial number 115924. You don't often see vintage VI's this nice, and almost never any nicer! It looks incredible to and to top it off, it is a fantastic player too.
The original lacquer on this Mark VI is in pristine shape, well over 97-98% intact. There is really no major wear to speak off. The lacquer has darkened with age to a lovely vintage patina. Physically, the saxophone shows no history of dents or damage repair. The bottom bow, bell flare, and bell-to-body brace all all perfect and have never been damaged. There is just one resoldered joint on one foot of the low Eb keyguard. There is some burnt lacquer immediately surrounding the area from the work, otherwise it'd be hard to spot as the repair was done immaculately. The original neck has the matching serial number, and it has never been pulled down. There is one tiny ping on one side of it, but otherwise it too is perfect and shows only light lacquer wear.
This saxophone is currently in the Saxquest shop awaiting a complete professional re-pad. It will soon be sporting a new set of premium leather Valentino pads, brown plastic resonators. All new corks, felts and a precise key regulation. The tenor ships in perfect playing condition.
This tenor plays with a lot of guts. It plays with an effortless response with the exact right amount of positive resistance to give you something to push against. This focus especially helps the altissimo pop effortlessly. Its tone is full and powerful from low Bb up as high as you can climb. A fantastic tenor for front-and-center playing, but pretty enough for the collector too! Ships in a good Selmer Paris Flight case with case cover.
