This is a highly awesome original lacquer Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor saxophone, serial number 57550. As you can see from the pictures the tenor is an exquisite example of an original lacquer five digit. It features a dark honey colored lacquer which is further complemented by the crisp American floral engraving. These early Mark VI's are well known for their ultra rich free blowing core sound. The physical diameter of the sound on these early Mark VI's is noticeably fatter then the VI's that Selmer was producing by the 1960's. This one in particular has very nice warm center to its sonic character and it's especially responsive. The key action is smooth and fluid under the fingers allowing for an easy and comfortable play.
The body of the tenor is in stellar original condition and was also recently re-padded in a professional shop. This saxophone has been expertly maintained over the years. It has no history of any major repairs. All of the key guards are even in perfect condition. There are absolutely no re-solders on this sax. The body tube, bow, bow cap, bell flare and key pearls are all in great original condition. This sax also includes the original neck with matching serial number stamp. The neck is outstanding and has never been pulled down.
This tenor was recently re-padded in a pro shop and is playing like a real dream. The set-up features all new premium leather pro pads and seamless metal resonators. Saxquest will also check the horn out in our shop before shipping to assure it arrives to you in perfect playing condition.
As time goes on it gets harder in harder to find a beautiful original Selmer like this one. Do not miss out on this incredible original lacquer Mark VI.
