With Custom Overhaul, Original Neck

This is an early 5 digit Selmer Mark VI tenor sax, serial number 68705. The serial number dates this sax to 1956, just after the introduction of the VI. This tenor has been well cared for over its life and comes in newer pads with a fresh pro set up.

This sax was relacquered long ago, and done very well for the most part. The color of the sax still has that aged look about it. The horn was also re-engraved in the original style, and looks great. Physically, the horn shows no serious past damage or repair. In fact the bottom bow is perfect and shows no evidence of any past repairs. One foot of the low C keyguard has popped off and we will take great care to resolder this cleanly before shipping. The original neck too has never been pulled down or damaged. It does show the matching serial number stamped in it.

This tenor was recently fully repadded by Paul Maslin's shop in Chicago. It has a set of white roo pads in it, with oversized machined brass domed resonators. The set up feels great with a crisp, medium spring tension and medium-open key heights.

There is a certain mystique to these early Mark VI's that many horns fail to live up, but this tenor is a dynamic player that will satisfy even the most discerning of professionals. It plays with a sweet, endearing tone but lacks nothing in the power department when you need to push it. Overall definitely a warmer, more colorful sound. One of those tenors that you have a hard time letting go of!
