Here's a beautiful original lacquer Selmer Mark VI tenor sax, serial number 104564. This tenor dates back to 1963 and is in stellar shape. It has been professionally played and well cared for over its life. Recently repadded, it is ready to go for a new owner.
As you can see in the photos, this tenor is in phenomenal shape. The original lacquer shows wear on the back side of the tube as is most commonly seen, but no physical damage anywhere. The bottom bow has never taken a hit, the bell flare is perfect, and thumb rest has never been pushed in. There is really no past dent work that I can see. There is just one small resoldered joint, on the bottom foot of the low C keyguard. It is done so well that I missed it upon first inspection. The ring finger D key is a slightly different color lacquer, as seen in the photos. Not sure if this was a factory repair (swap) or what, but it is definitely Mark VI. The neck is original with matching serial number, and while it has been slightly pulled down in the past, it has been corrected and has the right curve again.
This Mark VI was recently repadded using premium red leather pads and metal Noyak resonators. It has has red felts, giving the sax a unique look. One pad has since been replaced again, low Eb, the rest are all uniform and look great. Everything is sealing up like a drum, and the keywork has a nice pop under your fingers.
This tenor will not let you down. It plays with a strong focus and solid foundation. It is free blowing without feeling too open, and carries well with excellent projection while still having a sense of control. You can push it hard and never feel like you are hitting a wall. A great solo tenor kind of sound. It will not disappoint!
