This is a sweet vintage 1925 vintage C.G. Conn “Chu Berry” series C-Melody saxophone, serial number 160194. This sax is currently in our repair shop in line for our full restoration, and is in the prime serial number range for a New Wonder Conn.
By 1925, Conn's C Melody production had definitely lessened, so you don't see as many of them, but this one is in fantastic shape. Don't let the photos fool you, it is tarnished now, but we will clean it up and it is going to shine like new. We will completely disassemble it, clean and polish the sax, and replace all of the pads, corks, and felts throughout. It will ship in perfect adjustment and backed with our full year mechanical warranty.
This tenor has all of the features you want on a Chu of this vintage. It has rolled tone holes, trill G#, microtuner neck (alto style neck), and fingernail file G#. The sax comes in its original case, which shows shelf wear but is still in great overall shape, especially when you consider it too is 90 years old!
Once restored, this will be a killer horn, and a great option if you need to regularly read music in the key of C, or for the serious collector looking for a Chu-vintage C Melody.
