Morning all...how are we? So, students. We know the ONLY way to get "that sound" is by repetition of long notes. At the end of each session play 5mins. long notes with no sling. Hold the horn, dont grip it. Minimum right thumb under hook. Relax, it aint heavy. In a month or so.......well, try it and see. Later....adetenor. by adetenor on 8/30/2010 4:35:00 AM

I’m trying to get some information on a saxophone I have and I came across your website while doing some research. It says ‘The Elkhart’ on the bell with ‘Elkhart-Ind-USA’ below, in some type of engraved floral pattern. There is I’m assuming a serial number on the back that says 8331. It’s kind of brushed silver with mother of pearl keys. In looking at the serial number chart on your website, it would put the manufacture of the sax around 1908-1909… just trying to get more information on it and it’s worth aside from a family heirloom. It was my grandmothers, then my fathers, and then mine which I used to play.
Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you. by mikpotterd99 on 8/29/2010 4:07:00 PM

Blackfrancis, did you make the swap man?I really hope so, and that you are glad that you did. I did exactly this a long time ago. Mk.6 for 10m. Best thing i ever did. 10.m. may look like a piece of agricultural machinery, but has THE definitive tenor sound. Take it easy man, adetenor. Liverpool. U.K. by adetenor on 8/29/2010 1:47:00 PM

I have a series II Tenor sax that I have been playing on for some time. The problem I have is that in order to keep the saxophone in tune, I have to pull the mouthpiece out pretty far. With the mouthpiece being so far out on the tip, it tends to wobble a bit. I have actually exnted the neck by 1/4th of an inch, but that is not enouth. I'm not sure if I need a new neck or if I should continue extending the existing neck. Has anyone had similar experiences? by bwsax on 8/26/2010 10:05:00 PM

I've got a Selmer La Vie AS 250 and I have absolutely no idea how much it is worth. I've had it for probably about 3 years and it hasn't ever needed any sort of repairs. I was just hoping someone could help me figure out what she's worth. by grumbles505 on 8/26/2010 9:10:00 PM

I dont know if you got the first bit. Recap. Money problems led to my selling 10.m. Sad day. I kept Pan.Am....odd choice?...odd Pan.Am. All 10m. Roll bar guards,...Martin tone holes, chunky, concave, scooped. What i dig most....it has the fattest bore i have seen. A sound to match. That Charlie Ventura "Berg"would suit it just fine.hmmm.
