This is a sweet, all original silver 1965 vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI soprano saxophone, serial number 129472. This soprano looks fantastic with little wear to the silver plating, and is due to ship with a fresh overhaul from our repair shop, ensuring it to be in perfect playing shape for its next owner and good to go for a long time to come.

This horn looks to have been played with kid gloves, showing only very minor finish wear to the factory original silver plating. Mostly on a couple touch points, and that's it. There's some minor past dent work on the body tube near the left hand octave thumbrest (we'll make that look a lot better during our overhaul) and also down on the bell flare. No resolders that I can see, and no other previous repairs besides what is mentioned.

This Mark VI was professionally owned and maintained, with pads replaced as needed over the years. As such, it has been a long time since this horn was properly overhauled. We're going to do it up right, replacing all pads and material, including all springs, using premium firm leather pads and original style brown nylon resonators. We'll optimize the action and set heights and spring tensions back to factory specs. Finally, the horn will be hand polished to get the original silver to shine up as pretty as the day it left the factory.

If you've been hunting for a quality Mark VI soprano to round out the collection, this horn will not disappoint. It plays with a very open and fast response, with a strong focus that cuts well and has a lot of edge to cut to the back of the room. Fantastic “modern” sound for the contemporary scene, but you can easily dial it back when needed. I meant to play-test this horn for a few minutes and ended up jamming for quite awhile, it's a lot of fun to play. Ships in its original case.
